Social night – Saturday 26th September
Dear Members,
We'll be holding a club social night to sign off another decent (though weather could have been better) sailing season on Saturday 26th September. The following Tuesday will be the last midweek scheduled sail before Sunday sailing only takes over in October and the Royal Tay Winter racing series beyond that for the hardy enthusiasts.
The event will kick off at 7pm with more tasty food from our BBQ (butcher-grade gourmet burgers & sausages, marinaded chicken and steaks & vegetarian kebabs) accompanied by popular demand with Bill and his sizzling wok for some zesty stir-fry. We will have a stocked bar and music from club favorites Itchy Feet, who save their best performances for our downstairs waterfront venue. The early dusk means this is a great event for kids too, as we'll be able to light the beach bonfire earlier.
Its worth noting that this date will commemorate the 435th anniversary of Sir Francis Drake's completion of his circumnavigation of the world, so as a cruising club, perhaps we could raise a glass to this great feat, leaving the slavery, piracy and Spanish Armada to one side...
However this event is also about fund raising for your club, so we'd like all your attendance and support for this one (i.e. invite your family and friends too), to raise some cash for club coffers! While there are plans afoot to initiate some grant applications for more ambitious plans to develop and improve the club premises, we also need to replace the safety boat engine during the winter.
£8 per person and £4 for kids under 16, so still a bargain. Please bring something for the raffle - unwanted gifts, unused items, or that less fancied bottle of wine!
Should be a lot of fun, so see you all there!
